School of Physiotherapy, Puducherry was established in the year 2017, situated on the Cuddalore – Puducherry main road in a pleasant and spacious campus. This is one of the pioneer colleges in the country with all modern facilities for the teaching-learning process. The School of Physiotherapy became under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem in the year 2004. The M.P.T Degree Courses were started during the year 2017.

School of Physiotherapy prepares the student community in their professional discipline with an emphasis on moral values and service to develop competent graduates, who demonstrate concern for human health, provide comprehensive personal instructions, engage in basic and clinical research, and participate in community and professional services.

The School of Physiotherapy has good infrastructure facilities including various laboratories, like an Exercise therapy lab, Electrotherapy lab, Massage and Manipulation lab, Biomechanics lab, Community Physiotherapy lab, and Postgraduate Research lab with upgraded equipment to provide hands-on training and research activities to the students.

The School of Physiotherapy has an experienced faculty team that is specialized in all electives. Emphasis on interactive learning ensures that every student gains interest in all aspects of Physiotherapy and participates wholeheartedly in the theoretical and clinical sessions.

The teaching sessions will involve a balance of clinical training, bedside clinics, clinical meetings, journal clubs, clinical case studies, and project work, as well as active Community-Based Rehabilitation. Students will also find welcome exposure through Guest Lectures, Panel Discussions, Symposiums, Seminars, and Workshops for hands-on training throughout the year. The students are intended to learn experiments with new approaches, challenges, and existing knowledge boundaries and design novel solutions to various critical problems through logical, analytical, and critical thinking. The students are trained to demonstrate professional and ethical behavior appropriate to the standard expected of a Physiotherapy Graduate. They are encouraged to engage in activities that contribute to the betterment of society and behave ethically and responsibly in a social environment.

Faculty Members and students are encouraged to involve in research activities and have presented papers at National and International Conferences and won best paper awards.

Extension activities serve a fundamental purpose in learning physiotherapy. Bringing students close to real people will sensitize them through health awareness and community development programs and social work camps in nearby villages. Faculty members and students are encouraged to actively participate in blood donation camps and welfare programs for blind and differently-abled children.
