    Prof.Dr.J.Sabarinathan is a distinguished educator with 22 years of experience in academics and administration, with demonstrated history and emphasis on Health Professions Education and Quality Assurance. Dr.Sabarinathan became VMRF-DU’s Pro Vice Chancellor in July 2023, after serving the university as Director-Academics for 6 years from July 2017.

    Prior to joining VMRF-DU, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Penang International Dental College, Malaysia. As head of the institution, he was instrumental in implementing Outcome Based Education, Competency Based Curriculum and e-learning.

    He has conducted several faculty development workshops on curriculum design, delivery & assessment methodology. He has delivered lectures as invited speaker in India & abroad in the fields of Orthodontics, Outcome Based Education, Competency Based Education & Problem Based Learning. He has several publications in Problem Based Learning & Orthodontics to his credit.


    He has been part of several committees as chairperson and member, involving in pedagogical strategies, curriculum reappraisal, course designs, research initiatives, accreditation process and quality assurance process.

    Dr.J.Sabarinathan obtained MDS in Orthodontics in the year 2002, graduated as the best outgoing post graduate student. He obtained his FDSRCPS from Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow and obtained MDTFEd from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He obtained fellowship from Piere Fauchard Academy and World Federation of Orthodontics.

    He has served as office-bearer in several professional organizations, including Indian Orthodontic Society, SW Tamilnadu Orthodontic Study Group & Pierre Fauchard Academy. Currently, he is the Vice Chairman of Pierre Fauchard Academy, India Section. He has also served as member of Education Panel of Confederation of Indian Industries, Tamilnadu Branch.
