Dr. Suganya Kannan is an Assistant Professor
(Research) at the Centre for Biomedical Research, Vinayaka Mission’s Medical
College and Hospital, Karaikal, Puducherry, India, with over five years of
teaching and research experience in Microbiology. She holds a Ph.D. in
Microbiology from Madurai Kamaraj University (2020), an M.Sc. in Microbiology
from Pondicherry Central University with a CGPA of 9.43, and a B.Sc. in
Industrial Microbiology from Thiyagarajar College of Arts and Sciences, where
she was a university rank holder and gold medalist. Her research expertise
spans antimicrobial resistance, microbiome dysbiosis, nanotherapeutics,
biosurfactants, and alternative antimicrobial strategies. She has served as
Principal Investigator for multiple funded projects, including a SERB-funded
project worth ₹22.75 lakhs and VMRF-DU seed grants, and has published 54
research articles and 10 book chapters with an h-index of 16, i10-index of 18,
and over 770 citations. Dr. Kannan is a recipient of several prestigious awards
and fellowships, including the Women in Science Award (2024), Young Scientist
Award (2021), UGC-JRF and SRF, and DBT-IPLS-JRF. She holds multiple granted
patents related to antimicrobial technologies and drug delivery systems and
actively mentors Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate students. She has also
gained international research exposure through participation and poster
presentation at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Microbiome Conference, USA.
