Dr
Prajna Bhat J is currently serving as the Professor and Deputy Director at the
School of Rehabilitation and Behavioural Sciences (SRBS), Pondicherry Campus
under the Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation DU. She also heads the
Department of Audiology at SRBS. She possesses a deep passion for academia
blending over 15 years of Audiology experience across Academics,
Administration, Clinical and Research domains with keen analytical insight and
teaching excellence. She has completed her bachelor’s in Speech and Hearing,
Master’s in Audiology and PhD in Audiology from the prestigious All India
Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru. Throughout her career, she has made
substantial research contributions, publishing in prestigious Scopus and Web of
Science indexed journals. Her active engagement in national and international
conferences reflects a strong commitment to knowledge dissemination and
scholarly advancement. She serves as a Member of the College Council and the
Institutional Research Committee at SRBS-AVMC. She has served as a member of
Board of Studies for Bengaluru North, Central and City universities as well as valuator/examiner
for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Bengaluru City University,
Bengaluru North University, SDUMC (Kolar), Holy Cross College (Trichy), SRIHER
(Chennai) and SRM University (Chennai). Additionally, she is a member of the
Research Advisory Committee (PhD) at SRM university and VMRF-DU. She also
serves as Thesis valuator for the Mysore university and Manipal university. Her
leadership abilities are evident from her service as Head of the Accreditation
and Ranking Cell, Placement Cell Coordinator, and her current role as ISO
Coordinator for Academics, RCI coordinator for UG and PG courses in Speech and
Hearing as well as her proven capacity to organize numerous seminars, webinars,
conferences, college events and community outreach programs. Her research and
academic mentorship include supervising doctoral thesis, postgraduate
dissertations, clinical conferences, and journal club presentations, with
primary research interests in electrophysiology, hearing aids, music
perception, tinnitus and vertigo. She has won several awards for best poster
and best paper at conferences as well as for teaching excellence. She has
rendered extensive professional service to the Indian Speech and Hearing Association
(ISHA), Bengaluru Chapter, serving as an Executive Committee Member from 2018
to 2022. She currently serves as the member of the scientific committee and is
a reviewer for the Audiology papers submitted to the Indian Speech and Hearing
Association conference.
